Tiempo de Vals

Back in my day that was the popular quinceañera waltz everyone danced to. You like how I threw in my old lady attitude there? Don’t judge. I was born in Florida, retirement central, even the young people are old there.

Ah yes, I remember it now, Chayanne's delicate vocals taking you back to a time when waltzing across the dance floor was regal, ballgowns were romantic, and candles were not just reserved for hurricane season. It is a longstanding (if not a little outdated) Hispanic tradition to celebrate a girl's entrance into womanhood on her 15th birthday. Of course, nowadays it's just an excuse to get all dressed up and have a big party (now you know where my obsession with Mardi Gras really stems from).

I had the absolute honor of photographing this young lady's Quinceanera, and I can't believe it's already been a year and a half. I've seen her grow up, and it makes me feel old. Granted, I was not much older than she is now when she was born but still, when you hit 30, you start to realize how quickly time passes. And how much longer we spend as adults as opposed to children. It's a little sad actually. But I think that's why people hold on to nostalgia too. Things that have passed that make us feel good, those things get us through the bad days.

Sorry, I said to myself that I wouldn't make this one heavy, because 2020 has already been heavy enough. For all of us.

So back to Quince pictures, and I'm about to flood y'all with some beautiful ones. Just saying, this young lady is STUNNING. And on top of being a radiantly beautiful girl on the outside, she is a kind, funny, smart, compassionate, a team player, driven person and I am so proud of her. And I know her parents are too.

(Speaking of her parents; they're the cutest and one of my favorite couples that I look up to. Seriously. #goals)

So many princess vibes.

I want adventure in the great wide somewhere, I want it more than I can tell.

Also, I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I will mention it every single time; if you want pictures with horses, I'm your people. I've got ways. And I just love outdoor photos, like yes, I would love to have a studio and that is a goal that I'm working towards but I LOVE being outside in nature.

After causing a ruckus in a location that can be recognized but I will not name, just in case, we got to explore Downtown Fort Myers. Maybe some other time I will share the story of how we got kicked out, but again, I told you I would keep this one light. (I have lots of stories, I think it's long overdue that I begin to share them, but I don't want to scare you off just yet).

So I'll leave you here, with bright, colorful memories, stars in your eyes, and fairytales in your mind. Until next time boys & girls.
